Week 2, Term 3

Hi everyone

We hope everyone had a relaxing weekend and made the most of the lovely sunny days.

We have gymnastics this Tuesday so could the children please wear their school trackies and sports tops on Tuesday.  We are also training for the cross country at the moment so children can wear their running shoes to school.

We desperately need more parents to help at PMP on Friday mornings. The same two parents helped most of last term, so if you are free on any Friday morning from 9.15 to 10.15, could you please put your name on the roster on Room 1's door.

There is a PTA meeting this Tuesday 1 August.  We have a very small PTA this year and in order for the fair in October to be successful, we desperately need some more parents involved.  This does not mean that you will be coerced onto the PTA, but rather that you are helping with some aspect of the fair.  If you feel that you would be able to help, please come along to the PTA meeting this Tuesday, or contact a parent rep from your class.
It is important that one parent rep from each class attends the PTA meetings so that you are able to update other parents. The parent reps from Room 1 are Vanessa Breen and Meredith Lemuelu.  Room 2's parent reps are Kirsty Anderson and Lara.

Last week in action stations we started the woodwork station.  This was very popular with the children and a special thanks to Claire Cockburn for donating us some wood and nails.  However the children built such wonderful creations that most of the wood has gone.  We need more untreated wood offcuts and nails if you have access to any supplies, and also would love any old hand drills if anyone has an old one at home or knows a grandad that has one just lying around unused.

Have a great week,

Sue and Julie

Action Stations - Learning is fun

This week our learning focus for Action stations was:
Learning from others!!
This has been amazing as we all learn lots from others. Mrs Flannery has learnt from George about motorbikes. Children have been reminded they learn heaps from parents!!

Week 1 Term 3

Welcome back, we hope that you all had a super holiday!!
This term we have lots of exciting learning happening.
Mrs Flannery is back in Room 2 every day and Mrs Donaldson will be doing 2 and a 1/2 hours on a Tuesday.  Mrs Chamberlain will be teaching in all classes for 10 hours over the term to provide children with new dance skills.

This term we also have a gymnastic's programme for the whole school. This will be on a Tuesday for the first few weeks. On these days children will wear their sports track pants, school top and jersey. They will also need this for the dance lessons.

This week Room 1 children need to wear their sports uniform on Tuesday and Wednesday and Room 2 on Tuesday and Thursday.

Also PMP continues on Friday mornings for the first five weeks and then the last week of term.  The new roster is up on the Room 1 door so please add your name to this if you have free time on a Friday morning.

We have the cross country this term so children will be running at fitness time and could also do some running at home.

For one of our action stations learning we need some wood off cuts, nails, milk bottle lids and old hand drills. (Maybe Grandads may have one of these floating around!) Please let us know if you can provide any of these items asap.

We are having a school celebration of all our learning at the end of this term. This will include children's art work that will be sold at the school gala in term 4.

Please come and see us if you have any concerns or worries. All target childrens' (children below national standards) parents will be contacted in the first 2 weeks of this term.

Enjoy the last days of the holidays and we look forward to seeing all the childrens' happy smiling faces on Monday.

St John's visit

Today we had a First Aid beginner's course.  Felicia taught the children how to ring 111 in an emergency, how to put on a bandage and what to do for bleeding noses.  Your child has brought home a fridge magnet and a course certificate.  Could you please follow up on this by ensuring your child knows their address and phone number.

Week 10 Term 2 2017

Hi everyone

Well, only one more week to go! The term seems to have gone so quickly.

This last week is very busy.

Tomorrow we have St Johns from 9.00-10.30, and then our fortnightly kapahaka session with Maryanne Tamati.  In the afternoon, we will be listening to Eisteddfod poems and selecting two or three children to recite their poem at the Eisteddfod Assembly on Thursday afternoon at 1.30.

Tuesday is our final ice-skating session, and a big thank you to those parents who have helped over the last few weeks.  It has been amazing to watch the children grow in confidence and ability.

Also thank you so much to those parents who have helped with PMP on Friday mornings this term.  It would be impossible to run the programme without you.  There will be a new roster up on Room 1's door next term.

Thursday afternoon is the school Eisteddfod poetry assembly followed by the Cultural assembly and mufti day on Friday.  You are welcome to join us at both of these. The Cultural Assembly is a chance for children from other countries and cultures to share an aspect of their culture with others.  It might be a costume, song or dance.  If your child would like to share something, please let us know.

Have a great week,

Sue, Bridget and Kate
