Week 9, Term 2

Hi everyone,

Only two weeks left this term.

Athletics' rotations begin this week on Monday and Thursday in readiness for the athletics' sports early in Term 4. Please send children in sport's uniforms these days.

PLEASE TAKE NOTE:
This Friday 22nd, all teachers will be attending The Gathering, a professional development day for Catholic teachers. School will be open with some relievers taking classes.  Please let Chrissy or us know if your child will be attending school that Friday.

Also we have Eisteddfod's coming up next week in Week 10, and this time it is speeches.  Children will be required to give a short speech to the class, which may be about anything they are interested in eg pets, sports, family, a favourite holiday place etc. Could you please help your child practise their speech at home this week.

Please keep Wednesday 27th September from 5.00-7.00pm free as this is our WOW night, where we will be celebrating our school's learning.  Families are encouraged to bring along tea (either take-aways or food from home) for a picnic tea outside.  Then we will have some performances - our junior kapahaka will be performing!  After that you are welcome to visit our classrooms where the children will talk about Action Stations and demonstrate how they work.  The childrens' books will be there for you to browse through.  Also, there is a Silent Art auction which will run until the fair (Sunday October 29.) Your child's art will be displayed in the corridor, and if you would like to place a bid on it, you write the amount and your phone number underneath.

Please note: The WOW night will be postponed if the weather is unsuitable.

Have a great week,

Sue and Julie

Week 8, Term 3

Hi everyone

Well, there are lots of important dates coming up.

This week, 10th-14th September is Social Justice Week and Maori Language Week.
The theme of this year's Social Justice Week is "Weaving the bonds of Belonging" and "Knowing Our Neighbours".  The children will bring home a Connection Card activity to support them to do some specific things to build relationships in their home and family.

The Special Character Review Team will be visiting St Gerards from Monday 11th September - Wednesday 13th September.  Monday prayer will be led by our special character leaders and the kapahaka will be welcoming the team to our school.

Confirmation is on Tuesday 12th September at 6pm in the church and you are all very welcome to come along to support those children making their Confirmation.

Wednesday Mass at 9am in the church will be led by Room 3.

Both Rooms 1 and 2 have dance with Mrs Chamberlain on Wednesday and Thursday and we have gymnastics this Friday so sports uniforms may be worn on these days.

PLEASE NOTE:

Hi everyone

Hope all the Dads had a lovely Father's Day yesterday.

Remember our Father's Day lunch tomorrow.  Please return the money and numbers to school tomorrow so that we know how many we will be providing lunch for. ($6.00 for an adult and child, or $3.00 for a child.)

We have gymnastics this Friday, so children may wear their sport's uniform that day.

Also we have Eisteddfod's coming up in Week 10, and this time it is speeches.  Children will be required to give a short speech to the class, which may be about anything they are interested in eg pets, sports, family, a favourite holiday place etc.
