Week 5 Term 1
This week has a very busy start!!
Tomorrow is the swimming sports!!
All children if possible need to be dropped at the pool at 8.55am.
Junior sports will start at approximately 10-15am. Children are to sit with their house and cheer on the swimmers in the big pool. Once the junior sports are completed children are able to get dressed and then go back and sit with their houses. Children are to wear house colours. School uniform does not have to be worn tomorrow at all. Children will be bused back to school just before lunch.
Reading will be a seen text on Monday and then as per normal for the rest of the week.
Please if you have time to use Studyladder that would be great.
The poem that goes home on Friday needs to be signed by whomever reads it with the child.
If the weather gets hot again this week please pack children togs so they are able to run in the sprinkler for a cool down.
Have a happy and fun filled week
Julie and Sue

Studyladder, Waitangi Day and Keep Alexandra Beautiful
Dear Parents
This week your child has a Studyladder password pasted into the cover of their homework book. Studyladder is a fun interactive programme for computers and this year it is accessible to tablets and iPads as well.
Your child will complete Studyladder activities at school but they can also do them at home. The teachers can set tasks that reinforce what the children are learning at school. Children earn gold coins for completing these activities and they can spend their coins decorating their bedroom.
If your child logs on at home before Friday using your password, they will earn 200 gold coins and have access to extra activities.
Also, Keeping Alexandra Beautiful are having a tidy up of the area beside the Rail Trail on Tarbert St at 7pm on Wednesday 4th February. As a school we indicated an interest in this area as it is close to the school and have been involved spreading the initial mulch when this area was established. There may be some families who might pop up for a short time to help with weeding and tidying.
Finally, on Waitangi Day, at 10 am at Pioneer Park, there is a St Gerards Family Day initiated by our Maori/Pasifika School Community. This is a time to share and enjoy being a New Zealander. There are more details in the school newsletter.
Thanks
Julie and Sue
