Week 9, Term 3

Hi everyone,

Just two weeks left in the term!

The focus of this term's Eisteddfod is speeches. The Eisteddfod will be held on Thursday afternoon, 24 September.  Room 1 and 2 will say their speeches for the class next Monday or Tuesday, 21-22 September.  Your child just has to speak on a topic they are interested in e.g. a favourite pet or an interest.  They may also use props to add to their speech if they wish.

We will choose the best speakers to share their speech at the Eisteddfod on Thursday.  Criteria will be:

  • a clear voice
  • expression
  • eye contact
  • suitability of topic
Also, just a reminder to Room 2 to bring your soft toys each day this week.

Thanks to those who have sent along things suitable for construction at Discovery Time.  If you have any spare shoeboxes at home, please send them along for this Friday.

Also please return any overdue library books.  We will be visiting the library on Friday.

Have a good week,

Julie and Sue

Week 6 Term 3

We hope that everyone had a super weekend.

This week we have PMP on Wednesday afternoon and we need two more parent help please. This will only be on if the weather is good as it is open afternoon and the hall is being used. We are hoping to have PMP outside.
This is a great programme that is really beneficial to the children's learning.

Mrs Lyon is completing her last week in Room 2 this week. We are very lucky to have her help in the junior school and thank her for her efforts.

Open afternoon this Wednesday for any child starting at St Gerard's in 2016.

We have assembly on Friday at 2.10pm in the hall.

Room 1 welcomes Boston and Claire to the Room 1 family.

Next Monday we are off to waste busters in the afternoon as part of our inquiry topic. Anyone who is able to meet as there and help that would be great. Please let us know asap.

This Sunday is a school mass and the children come in uniform and sit with their class. This is 9am at the Church.

Have a happy week

Julie and Sue
