week 9 term 1

I hope that everyone had a great long weekend and is all ready for another long weekend this weekend.
Next week school starts on Wednesday.
Tomorrow at 9am we will start hearing the prayers and the children who will be presenting this in church on Thursday will be told and their names will be in tomorrows newsletter. Everyone is welcome to come along to the prayer reading on Thursday.
Last week we started our discovery time which will be every Friday afternoon. Please come in and check out the white board and the wall display in Room 1 to see what this is all about. If you are free to help in this time that would be great, just let me know on the week. This week we are having discovery time on Thursday starting at 9.15am until 11.15am.

This is the bubble making group from last Friday.

This week for homework the children will have reading every night and a poem on Thursday.
Have a happy and safe Easter,
God Bless
Julie

Week 7 and 8

Well done to everyone for the dress up day on Thursday everybody looked great.
On Friday in Room 1 and 2 we have been focusing on St Patrick as it is his feast day on Sunday.
The school triathlon will be run this Monday 18th  March at the Alexandra Aquatic Centre. This year there will be no team events and all children will compete as individuals. The distances have been adjusted so they are achievable for all children. It is all about participation and everyone having a go!  Year 1 to 4 need to have bikes dropped off and picked up at the pool as they will catch a bus to and from the pool. The event will begin at approximately 12.30pm starting with the year 1 and 2.
Children need to be picked up from the pool on Monday afternoon. Please make sure your child is wearing school sports uniform and has appropriate footwear for running, a bike and helmet for the bike leg, and swimming togs, towel, goggles etc for in the pool. Also a warm set of clothing in case it is cold as well as a hat and sunblock. They will also need a big lunch and lots of water to drink on this day. Children will not be able to get a lunch order on this day. This is a house event so children need to wear house colours to school over their sports uniforms instead of their uniforms.
Have a safe and happy weekend and a great week 7
Thanks
Julie

Week 6

Welcome to Bobbie who started in Room 1 today. We also welcome his family to St Gerards school.
This week is walk and wheels week so everyone is encouraged to walk or bike etc to school. If you are on a bus and walk to the stop that is fine.
Assembly is this week on Thursday at 2pm and Room 1 children will be starting with leading prayer.
I promise that this is really the week assembly is on!!!!
We have a display of words in Room 1 and it is Room 1's race to space, children need to read the words to move upwards towards space. Then there will be more words on planets and stars to move towards. I will pop a copy of the words in the children's homework books on Tuesday.
Please remember your child needs to start training for the school triathlon. We will start this week with some running every day. Next week children can bring their bikes and we will practice riding on the grass.
Have a great week
Julie
