Week One, Term One 2017

Hi everyone

Hope you have had a happy and relaxing holiday!  Welcome back to those children who were in Room 1 and 2 last year and a big welcome to our New Entrants who are starting school tomorrow.

Bridget Chamberlain is teaching with Julie in Room 2 this term and she will be teaching the class all day Wednesday and Thursday mornings.

Many of you have already purchased book boxes for your child from the office.  Please note that an extra $10 needs to be paid to the office for felt pens and tissues which were not in the book boxes. Also, new entrant children require a book bag to take their reading books home in each night.  These can either be purchased from the office for $5, from Paper Plus or online sites.

Children will be taking home a reading book tomorrow and instructional reading will start next week.

Also as many of our paint shirts are very old and stained, it would be appreciated if you could send an old, oversized shirt or T-shirt to school with your child.

Next Monday, could Room 1 children please bring their favourite toy to school as we will be sorting and categorising these as part of our Statistics unit for Maths.

Important Dates
Meet the Teacher evening will be held next Wednesday from 5.30 - 7.00pm, beginning with a shared tea (bring your own tea for your family - either take-aways or a picnic tea), and meeting all together from 6.00 -6.15, before going into individual classes.  More details will come on next week's blog.

Swimming starts in Week 2 and we will go by bus at 1.45 pm on February 7, 9, 14, 16, 21.  This swimming is in preparation for our school swimming sports which will be held on the 28th February. If some parents are free to help in the changing rooms, this would be great.

We are hoping to have our overnight Junior Camp for Rooms 1-7 later in February.  The tentative date is Thursday 23 February but the date and location are yet to be confirmed.  We will need parents to stay overnight and help with activities on the Friday. A notice will go home as soon as the date and location are decided.

We are looking forward to a happy and exciting year.

Julie, Sue and Bridget
