Holiday Babysitting

Hi,
My daughter Sophie is home from Wellington for a month, and would be keen to get some babysitting.  She is working at the Clyde Cinema from December 5-16, from 2pm to 6.30pm, but would be available at any other time, day or evening.

She sent me this notice to post:
DO YOU NEED A BABYSITTER?
I am a mature, fully licensed 20 year old with experience looking after my young nieces and nephews. Please contact me on 0274558266 or email me at sophiegabrielle59@gmail.com

Thanks

Week 8, Term 4

Hi everyone,

Thanks so much to all those parents and grandparents that helped with swimming for our group of 5 year olds.  Your transport and help in the changing rooms was much appreciated.

Please check you have read the previous blog on our Christmas Art activities for this week and our Outdoor Education activities for Week 9.  If you are able to help with any of these activities, please let us know.

Also, this Thursday 1 November is a mufti day to gather items for the PTA Christmas raffle. There is no cost for this raffle,  but if you have not yet contributed an item to the class box in the foyer, could you please do this on mufti day.

Finally, the PTA is wanting a favourite recipe from each family to be part of next year's recipe book. Could you please print out a recipe and send it with your child to school, or email it to the class teacher.  It could be a breakfast, dinner, dessert, baking, snack or salad recipe - anything goes.

Dates to Remember:
*Monday 12th December: 1 pm – Prize Giving Assembly.
*Tuesday 13th Dec: Graduation Mass – 6 pm.
*Thursday 15th December: Teacher Only Day.

Have a great week,

Sue, Julie and Rosalie

Christmas Craft Activity Week

Hi there,

If you have any spare shoe boxes at home could you please send them along to school by next Monday.  I am also looking for spare wool wool if anyone has any - (that's the wood shavings that wine bottles etc are packed in.)

Thanks

Week 7, Term 4

Hi everyone,

Well we had a very successful dairy farm visit last Wednesday and the weather held out for us - we were even able to eat lunch in the sunshine!  A big thank you to those parents who came along as helpers and a special thank you to Emma and Hamish for being such wonderful hosts.  The children all learnt so much and had heaps of questions.

The last two days of swimming for our group of 5 year olds are on Tuesday and Thursday. On Thursday we need to leave earlier at 11.45 as our session is 12.00.  It has been great to see the children's progress - we had some children who were scared to put their head under and they are now floating!  Also thank you so much to the parents who have been helping with transport and dressing children.

This week the Life Education Bus is at school on Thursday and Friday and all classes will have two sessions in the bus.  We are learning about where our food comes from and healthy eating.

Next week, Week 8, we will be having a junior school Christmas Art activity rotation after play each day. This will involve Room's 1, 2, 3 and 7.

Week 9 is our Outdoor Education week and we have some exciting activities planned.  There will be more details coming next week.

Also the Speech Eisteddfods are in Week 9,  For this, the children need to prepare a short talk for the class about something they are interested in eg. a favourite pet, a sport, a favourite holiday place etc.

Have a great week,

Sue, Julie and Rosalie

Junior Farm Trip

It will be quite wet and muddy on the farm today so a good idea to bring a spare pair of shoes and a plastic bag to put gumboots in.

Farm visit

Dear Parents/Caregivers,

On Wednesday 16th November Rooms 1, 2 ,3 and 7 will be visiting the Stratford’s dairy farm at Omakau. This is part of our inquiry topic, “Where does our food come from?”
Children are to wear mufti, appropriate clothing for a farm, which will include, jacket, sunhat, covered shoes/gumboots.
Please pack a full school lunch with a drink and bring sunblock.
If your child has any medication/issues/allergies not held on the school files from your notification in February, please contact the classroom teacher, so that we are aware, and have appropriate medication on hand, if needed.
We need parents to accompany us, and 1 back-up emergency vehicle.
The cost of this trip is $10 per child - this covers the cost of the bus. Please come and see us if this cost is a problem.

This note will be in Wednesdays newsletter – if you can help please email chrisbeilby@stgerards.school.nz

Week 5, Term 4

Hi everyone,
Hope you all had a lovely weekend.

This Tuesday and Thursday afternoon there is swimming again for the same group of 5 year olds.  Thanks so much to those parents that have been helping with transport - it is a big cost saver!

The Ronald McDonald roadshow on road safety is on Thursday at 12 o’clock in the hall for Rooms 1,2,3 and 7.

The letter of the week is Mm. Please bring along things starting with Mm for our table.

Also, just a reminder that the children bring home a poem in their poetry books on Fridays. This is their weekend reading so could you please get your child to read the poem to you or read it with them and then sign it.

The previous post showed the art the Room 1 and 2 children have done for the Fundraiser Calendars. An order form came home with each child last week or you could ask at the office if you don’t have one. You are able to order calendars, cards or diaries which would be excellent for Christmas.

Also, there is a farm trip to the Stratford's farm next week as part of our Inquiry topic, "Where does our food come from?" There will be more details posted about this trip during the week.

Have a great week,

Julie, Sue and Rosalie
