Week 3 Term 1

Hi everyone

This Wednesday evening is Meet the Teacher's Evening. From 5.30-6.15, there will be a picnic tea where you are welcome to bring takeaways or your own food from home.  At 6.15, everyone meets in Room 5 for a prayer and a short discussion.  Then you move onto your child's classroom to meet the teacher.  We will be sharing our expectations for homework with you and answering any questions you may have.

Just a reminder that school swimming sports are this Thursday 18th February.  Children are to be dropped off at the pool at 9.00am and will return to school by bus.  Children are not in uniform - they wear their house colours.

Also on Thursday afternoon the whole school will be watching a performance by NZ Playhouse called "The Fairest of Them All".

Please continue to send togs along to school as we will be turning the sprinklers on if the weather is very hot.

Have a good week,

Julie, Sue and Neroli

Week One, Term 1 2016

Hi everyone

Hope you have had a happy and relaxing holiday.  Welcome back to those children who were in Room  1 and 2 last year and a big welcome to all our New Entrants who are starting school tomorrow.

Neroli Laidlaw is teaching with Julie in Room 2 this year and she will be teaching the class on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Swimming starts in Week 2 and this will be on February 10, 11 and 12.  This swimming is in preparation for our school swimming sports which will be held on the 18th February. (There is more about this in the school newsletter).

Also as many of our paint shirts are very old and stained, it would be appreciated if you could send an old, oversized shirt or T-shirt to school with your child.

This year, both Room 1 and 2 are having a letter of the week.  Sharing news is going to be different, with children having a designated day to share news, which in Room 2 is about a specific topic.
This will be pasted into the children's homework books so that you know which day your child is sharing news.

Finally, as tomorrow is supposed to be very hot, please send togs and a towel along to school as we will be turning on the sprinklers in the afternoon.  This may apply to Thursday as well, as it looks hot at this stage of the weather forecast.

We are looking forward to a happy and exciting year.

Julie, Sue and Neroli
