Week 2 Term 3

We hope that everyone had a super weekend. We have a lot of bugs around at the moment with over 30 children away today sick. Our advise from the health professionals is that children wash hands with soap and water rather than hand sanitizer.  We will be modelling this and teaching children how to use soap and water but at home if you could also teach this that would be super.

This week is Maori Language week and as part of this we will be sending a Mihi home on Tuesday  for homework. Could children please go over this so they can say it to the class when they feel confident.

We are now running two laps of our cross country training track. We have been talking about setting goals by trying to run a little further each day before stopping.  Children can wear track pants and sneakers during this training time, (the next three weeks).

On Friday Room 1 and 2 will lead Assembly. Please come and join us at 2.10pm in the hall.

We also have Mass on Friday at 2pm led by Room 3.

Also, if you have any large yoghurt pottles with lids at home that you don't need, could you please send these along to school as they are very handy for paint and glue.

Have a great week!

Week 1 Term 3

Hi
We hope that everyone had a super duper holiday and that everyone is looking forward to school on Monday. Mr Yeoman and his wife Anna welcomed their son Tarn into the world in the holidays.

As the cross country is coming up we are starting our training on Monday. This means that children can wear school track pants and sneakers to school all week.

On Tuesday and Wednesday,  Room 1 and 2 will have two science lessons with Mr Hogue.

This term we still have PMP on Wednesday afternoons, if you are able to help with this please write your name on the roster on Room 1's door. 3 parents per slot. Thanks in advance for doing this. We have a lot of amazing equipment that really benefits the children learning and without your help with this we could not offer this programme.

Reading will start on Monday and children are encouraged to learn their sight words. We are happy to check these in the mornings before school. 5 ticks and then they are signed off by us.

Enviro

Enviro group garden request.

Wheelbarrows: This Wed July 1st we are shifting a whole bunch of soil. If you have a wheelbarrow we could borrow for the day could you please let Mr Yeoman know. Any parent help during Wed lunchtime would be very welcome.

Pots: We need a range of pots for planting seedlings in. A range of sizes and materials would be fine. If you have any spare could they pleased be dropped into Room 6 anytime. We will begin planting seedings in Term 3.

Building materials: We want to build a mini hot-house to raise our seedlings and are looking for materials to do this. The hot house will be aprox 1000mm x 600mm x 600mm. We are particularly looking for timber to frame the hot house and plastic to cover it.

Thanks

Week 11, Term 2

Hi everyone

This week we have iceskating on Monday and Wednesday at the same time as last week, leaving school at 10.40 and skating from 11.00 - 12.00.  Thanks to all the parents who helped with getting skates on and off last week - it makes such a difference to have your help!

On Monday afternoon, the children will be reciting their Eisteddfod poem to the class.  Some children will be chosen to say their poem at the Eisteddfod assembly on Thursday afternoon at 1.30pm.

We made a wonderful variety of bird feeders on Friday morning at discovery time.  Thanks for collecting and sending along suitable materials.  We hope to hang them outside our windows tomorrow if it's not too windy, so that we can birdwatch for the rest of the week.  Children will bring them home on Friday.  (Friday is the last day of term.)

Have a happy and safe holiday,

Julie and Sue
